The laser is also able to make incisions into the eye to treat astigmatism.  Some of these femtosecond lasers for cataract surgery can also treat astigmatism without actually making an incision to the surface of the eye.  When combined with premium intraocular lenses, the laser may result in reduced need for glasses.  Despite these benefits, Dr. Aaker usually feels that a traditional based surgery is the better option for most patients.  He would be happy to discuss these options with you if you make an appointment.
